Sept 2016 – The Telford-based control systems integrator Transicon Ltd has further strengthened its project engineering team with the recent appointment of James Walklett as Senior Systems Engineer.

With many years of experience with AC Drive Systems, PLC and HMI equipment and SCADA systems, James takes up this new position with responsibilities for delivering the company’s integrated control and automation solutions.

“James has joined after another successful year for Transicon, we took on new engineers at the start of the year, and yet again we’ve employed another high calibre engineer in order to deliver the requirements of our ever expanding customer base.” says Transicon’s engineering Director, Ian Turpin. “2016 has proved to be another busy year for Transicon and this expansion of our engineering capability underpins our investment for the future. I am therefore delighted to welcome James to the Transicon team, especially as he has first-hand experience of providing engineering solutions to a wide range of industries, specifically in NDT, which will help continue our development of new market sectors“

About James Walklett

James was brought up in Newport, Shropshire and spent his gap year working as a panel builder for Proteus Switchgear and VA Technology in Telford. After returning from Lancaster, he developed his career in Control Systems, designing, integrating and commissioning automated woodworking machinery for the off-site construction industry. Following this he spent 8 years working in Stoke on Trent for a systems integrator. Originally tackling small retro fits and upgrades on cardboard and printing lines, James developed the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) side of the business taking the company from a small electrical integrator to a fully-fledged mechanical and control system engineering business. Day to day work involved designing, programming and commissioning PLC’s from Siemens and Rockwell and integrating both main stream and specialist motion controllers & drives for a variety of industries from process pumping to Oil & Gas contracts. Prior to joining Transicon he started and headed up a 3D CAD (Solidworks) mechanical design team, developing bespoke machinery including Clean In Place systems for a Food & Pharmaceutical filter manufacturer and several large scale NDT systems for Aerospace metal inspection. This enabled development of whole mechatronic solutions for customers from metal fabrications to software. Having joined Transicon, James is now working towards Chartered Engineer status, having recently becoming a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
